RadEQ - Equalizer for Streaming online Radio app good for
Got it because my Airplay speaker has too much bass, so I need an internet radio player where I can adjust the sound. Installed it and worked like a charm. Up to now absolutely no problems. User interface is simple and intuitive. My favorite radio station was not on the list, but it took only one mail to support, and half a day later it was included.
So for me its the perfect solution.
This app works great for listening to Internet radio (and even FM stations) with real decent sound, and once connected, it stays connected and plays the feed without a glitch. I could also tune in to my brothers Internet radio station that I listen to all the time by simply entering the feeds URL, then saving the station in the Favourites.
But this app will often need more than one attempt to connect to a feed, its not like the SHOUTcast app that always picks it up the first try (but doesnt have an equalizer).
Also, whenever the app is reinitialized, the auto normalizer switch is always on by default — would it be possible for it to stay as I left it so I dont have to turn it off each time, and the same for the preamp ?
And when I reinitialize the app, the station its parked on appears to be the last one listened to thats in its catalogue, and not simply the last one listened to period.
*** NEW BUG WITH iOS 6.1 ***
Since I upgraded to iOS 6.1, whenever and everytime I tap the Stop button to stop the feed, the app freezes and goes unresponsive. However, I can still exit it, and when I get back in it, it reinitializes itself and crashes. When I tap its badge to go into it again, then it re-loads again and works OK... until I stop the next feed Ill play. Please fix!
Ive found a great alternative to the dominant iOS Internet Radio app, TuneIn.
While theres a lot to like about TuneIn, it isnt for everyone, especially users who, like audiophiles, are very passionate and particular about how their audio sounds. Audioforge, the developer of RadEQ, which also does a terrific equalizer app, sensibly called Equalizer, clearly shares this passion.
RadEQ does what TuneIn cant - it lets you fine tune the sound of your Internet stations with its flexible and easy-to-use built-in equalizer. Thats especially important if you have a very good (which often means expensive) pair of headphones or earphones and want to get the most out of them. Add a good portable amp to your iOS device and bingo! You have virtually audiophile quality sound!
Does RadEQ have user access all Internet stations. Not in the same way as TuneIn, which finds many through a simple search. RadEq has thousands of stations on its list, but it did not have my favorties. Audioforge supports the app with wonderful service. It added my stations on request. Theres even a category on its list entitled "Requested."
Does RadEQ have all of TuneIns bells and whistles? Not really. But given that Audioforge supports its apps so well and that RadEq is a relatively new app, I believe more is to come. Im told, for example, that it is looking into adding something that appears to be unique to its Equalizer app, the ability to adjust left and right channels separately. It would be nice, but not essential, I believe for the app to have cover art as well as links to iTunes when a station plays a specific song you might want to buy and download. But the app is so good now, Im not going to mind a bit waiting for whats ahead.
Bravo RadEq and Audioforge!
Five stars for a great app now that is sure to get even better in the the future, and for out-of-the-park customer service.
all radio have imperfections. no record feature. cant play iTunes ...
This is exactly what you need when listening to internet radio! Sounds amazing plugged into the car!
Some bad moments
Does anyone know? This app is a waste, Ive tried however most station do not connect or are unavailable.
Crap! Does not tune, crashes , and loose any station tuned… Don’t waste your money...
First off, the ability to apply equalizer settings to radio stations is a welcome luxury in itself. Additionally, customer Support is the very best. Only yesterday I emailed a request concerning my favorite station, and today the station has been added to the list.
But, bottom line, equalizers are all about making music sound better – and that is what this app does so well (as does Audioforges other Equalizer App.) It is easy to use, and makes even orchestral music sound rich, full, and clean. I have compared it with other equalizer apps available, and this is, hands down, the best for quality audio.
Great sound on both headphones and speaker. Great selection of radio stations too. Puts Pandora to shame
Awesome selection of Radio Stations. Always something new. I love how I can sync my favourites on iCloud and have the same stations available on my iPhone.
This app removes the hassle of searching for new songs manually. And once you found one you like, you dont have to remember what title it is coz the app lists the last 100 songs together with a date and time when I listened to it.
AND it links directly to that song in iTunes if I decide to buy it days or minutes later.
Very much thought put into usage.
And the custom eq makes is way above any other radio service.
Five stars.
